Oper für alle - Opera in the open air

Here is a tip for 20 July 2019 from the Expat in the City Team!

 

On Saturday 6 July the first part of the Oper für all (Opera for everyone) took place. This open-air music event happened at the Max-Josepth-Platz right in front of the Staatsoper. On a large video screen people watched the live performance of the opera Salome, the famous opera by Richard Strauss. Entrance is free.

 

On 20 July 2019 at 20:30 the second part of Oper für all is happening at Marstallplatz in Munich. The concert programme is as follows:

ATTACCA – Jugendorchester des Bayerischen Staatsorchesters
Conductor: Allan Bergius

 

Soliist Golda Schultz and Thomas will perform duets such as „Tonight" from Leonard Bernsteins West Side Story and Cole Porters „Let´s do it, let´s fall in love" from Paris. Golda Schultz will perform „I could have danced all night" from Frederick Loewes My Fair Lady, Thomas Hampson „Night and day" from The Gay Divorce from Porter. Das Bayerische Staatsorchester will also play instrumental pieces such as George Gershwins Cuban Overture  or An American in Pariszum.

The concert starts at 20:30 and ends around 22:45.
